Wondering how Tarot and To-Do lists are connected?Tarot can help you stay organized and balanced. When you match your to-do list to the themes of the Tarot suits—Cups, Swords, Wands, and Pentacles—you can batch things together to make your life make more sense.
Understanding the Tarot Suits and Their Themes
Each Tarot suit connects to a different part of your life. Knowing how they connect will help you plan the day in a way that makes sense to you.
What Each Suit Represents
- Cups: These are tasks that connect to emotions, creativity, and relationships. They are things like journaling, calling a friend, or taking care of yourself.
- Swords: These focus on logic, decisions, and problem-solving. Use this suit for things to dow with planning, organizing, or having hard conversations.
- Wands: This suit is all about passion, growth, and inspiration. This is the suit for starting new projects and learning something new!
- Pentacles: Pentacles focus on practical things like money, health, and home. These jobs include paying bills, meal planning, or cleaning.
Why Match Tarot Suits to Your To-Do List
Organizing tasks with Tarot themes helps you focus on what is most important to you. It can make your list feel more meaningful and help you stay motivated. Wondering how? Look at this list.
- Find balance in your life by making sure you do things in all parts of your life
- Find which parts of your life might be getting too much or too little attention
- Make your to-do list feel more important and connected to your mindset
- Start tasks with enough energy and mindset
How to make tarot based To-Do Lists
This is a lot simpler thank you think. And it might help you brainstorm more ideas
1. Create a master to-do list
Write down everything you can think of that you need to do. You want to include daily chores, calling the doctor, or to call your dad.
2. Create a spot in your planner
You could break your page up into quarters and label each part by the tarot suits, or have a different page for each suit, it's up to you.
I like to write mine down sticky notes so I can move them around as needed. You could label each part like this:
- Wands (Fire/Action)
- Cups (Water/Emotions)
- Swords (Air/Mind)
- Pentacles (Earth/Material)
3. Sort your list of things to do
Now that you have a list and a place to put it, you are going to want to sort each one into a suit. For each task, ask yourself:
- Is this about creating or taking action? → Wands
- Does this involve emotions or relationships? → Cups
- Is this about thinking, planning, or communicating? → Swords
- Is this about practical, material concerns? → Pentacles
4. plan your day
You can do this a couple of different ways. One way is to pick one task for each tarot suit. That helps you keep a balance in your life, and ensures you are taking care of everything.
Another way to plan daily is to do things to your energy level. Like if you want to do something creative, you might pick tasks from your Wands section. Here are some energy levels and what suit is best suited for each time.
- High energy time → Wands tasks
- Emotionally receptive time → Cups tasks
- Clear-headed time → Swords tasks
- Grounded time → Pentacles tasks
Examples of To-Do List Items for Each Suit
- Cups: Write in a journal, spend time with family, meditate.
- Swords: Plan your day, organize files, respond to emails.
- Wands: Start a new hobby, brainstorm ideas, work on a creative project.
- Pentacles: Pay bills, go grocery shopping, clean your desk.
5. Review and Reflect
At the end of the week, it's a good time to see if you want or need to make any tweaks to your lists. You also want to ask yourself some questions:
- Are you avoiding certain suits?
- Which areas need more attention?
- Where do you naturally gravitate?
- When did you do your tasks and did they match with the energy level you had?
Now when you are planning your next week, adjust as necessary. Want some other examples of things to do an what suit they might fit in:

What if my list has items that would fit into two suits?
I can get hung up on the what ifs? so I like to code my tasks. Like if you want to redecorate your bedroom, it could fit into 2 different suits. The budgeting would go under the Pentacles, but the designing could go under Wands. So if redecorating your bedroom is on my list, I put it under pentacles but code it with a color or symbol that represents Wands.
Just remember that you aren't looking for the perfect category, your goal is to organize your day to make your life easier. Just trust your intuition and add your task somewhere. If it's on a sticky note you can move it if you want to and if it's written in your planner, you can change it on next weeks plan.
Creative Ways to make your list pop
If you're like me, you like to fancy up your planner a bit. Here are some fun things to try:
- Use color to represent each suit. I love me some highlighters for color coding. It makes me feel like I have it all together.
- Add some symbols. You could label Cups tasks with a heart, or a circle for Pentacles.
- Use fun shapes. Similar to adding symbols, but still different. You could change the check boxes to little moons or use starts for bullet points.
- Make it sound more fun. Instead of labeling you section Things To-Do, you could call it Today's Adventures or Magic Tasks.

Tarot and to-Do lists, make it a habit.
Just like any planning method, it only works if you use it. You can add making to=do lists with tarot in mind to your weekly planning times.
You don't have to change your whole planning system, adding Tarot to your planning time adds another layer to your Things To-Do list.
Final Thoughts
Adding tarot to your weekly planning and to-do lists is a very Wands thing to do. I like trying new things to my planning and journaling to see if it's helpful or not. It's a way to keep things interesting and fun. You should try it, too.
